25 years of sharing Women's Stories

The 2017-2018 Season marks 25 years of Renaissance Theaterworks promoting women theater artists both onstage and off.

Since 1993, we have mounted 66 full productions and 40 staged-readings. Among these are nine original works by Wisconsin playwrights, seven World Premieres and one North American Premiere. We have told many women’s stories and provided opportunities for over 700 theater professionals 75% of these have been women.

Today RTW remains Milwaukee’s only women-founded, women-run professional theater company. Our mission is to create moving theater that awakens our recognition of what it is to be human - from classics to world premieres - with attention to roles for women onstage and off.

To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we have chosen a season that recognizes women at the top of their game;

A SEASON OF TOP GIRLS.

• A brilliant novelist caught between ambition and desire in SEX WITH STRANGERS by Laura Eason

• A fierce and determined mother in RUSSIAN TRANSPORT by Erika Sheffer

• And the host of fabulous women of myth and history that populate Caryl Churchill’s seminal work TOP GIRLS.
